Abstract:

AOptimization has become an indispensable tool when planning for radiation therapy cancer treatment. Yet, novel and ever more precise treatments such as IMPT pose significant challenges for planning, due to model’s complexities and uncertainties. We discuss computational approaches for enforcing and approximating the so-called dose-volume constraints – a critical set of requirements used during the treatment planning to ensure the sufficient target coverage and healthy tissue sparring.

Bio: 

Dr. Zinchenko holds a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University. He has published papers in the fields of mathematical programming, operations research and applications, including his work on the curvature of the central path for linear programming and optimal radiotherapy design. Prior to joining Gurobi, Yuriy was a full-time faculty and Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Calgary.
